In 2024, the organisation rebranded as Set Starters to better reflect its mission and values. We are dedicated to supporting new entrants into the film and television industry, with a focus on care, collaboration, and professional growth.
Our team is committed to building meaningful relationships, offering tailored guidance, and sharing first-hand industry experience to help individuals take their first steps towards sustainable careers.
Set Starters
SetStarters.org.uk is the home of Set Starters, an independent non-profit organisation and a proud member of the wider SetStarters.group. Established in 2022 and rebranded in 2024, we are dedicated to helping new entrants build lasting careers in the film and television industry. At Set Starters, we believe in care, collaboration, and creating opportunities. Our initiatives are designed to support aspiring professionals at every stage of their journey, from training and mentorship to networking and creative challenges. By drawing on first-hand industry experience, we provide practical guidance and accessible resources that open doors to an often-competitive sector. As part of the SetStarters.group, Set Starters also works alongside sister projects such as Set School and Fear Screen, ensuring a joined-up approach to education, career support, and creative development across the screen industries.
Set School
Set School is an upcoming initiative from Set Starters, designed to inspire and equip teenagers across the UK with the skills, confidence, and knowledge to pursue a future in film and television. Unlike traditional schooling or university courses, Set School focuses on the fundamental, practical skills that young people often do not get the chance to learn elsewhere.

Fear Screen
Fear Screen is an exciting new initiative from Set Starters, created to champion and uplift the independent sector of the film industry. Rooted in our passion for horror, Fear Screen is more than just a festival — it is the beginning of something much bigger.
